Being maidless…

11 03 2009

Being maidless….

helps to train up the children to take care of their home::: besides packing their own toys and books, they wash the dishes, fold the clothes, hang them, change bedsheets, etc.

trains E to be independent with his revision::: he has to study his own 听写 and spelling before I helped him with final round.

helps to train the children to be more independent::: they have to right?!

I’m annoyed less::: things are done MY WAY, so what’s there to be annoyed about right ;)

is physically tiring on me::: my legs are really tired! :(

time is really precious::: Now spending lesser time on the internet. (YEH!)

home is more messy (but not dirty.  :) ::: I can stand mess, not dirt.)

Having said all these, I’m tired, really tired.  There are certainly times when I wish I still have a domestic helper.  I have to constantly remind myself to give myself more time to adjust.  I liken it to exercising when the first 5 to 10 minutes can be hard, but just persist on, exercising will become enjoyable.  So, with perseverance, living without maid can be enjoyable. :) (but tiring :( )

Yap I know. So many times, I wish I’ve a full time helper. But seriously, I wont enjoy someone living w/ us. I mean, home is a sanctuary. & definitely, I’m afraid of losing control of the hse too. I know of some who say they’ve no idea where their things are, only the maid knows. And definitely, a plus plus plus pt is that the kids will be more independent.

Hey, but ur kids r always one up agt mine when it comes to hsehold. If I get ds to wash dishes, I’ll find detergent bubbles on the ceiling :) But deep down, I admire his playfullness :)

I’d say better to be physically tired than to be emotionally and mentally tired! Hang in there! I know initially many times I felt like running back to the agent and get help but doing without a maid is definitely better for the kids. They will learn to look after themselves. Otherwise we perpetuate a vicious cycle of little emperors and little princesses. I so enjoy the freedom and the happiness that comes with it now and I am sure you will too.

little Zoe seems to look so much more grown up now in the shots… and her hair is growing so long!

when i see kids smiling so broadly, it makes me want to give them a biiiig cuddle! :b

say “Hi” to your darlings from Aunty El, and “A big well done too!”

Gosh… sorry for not replying!!!

All of you spoke my mind :) Thank you so much for all your encouragements. It is really the thought of you mummies out there living without live-in help that is encouraging me to press on.

It will be 2 weeks tomorrow. Though I’m still finding my way around, but I’m feeling much better than before. No longer have any thoughts of having another helper. Honestly, I’m loving the housework! ;)

…and here i was thinking u must be keeping yr home suuuuuuper spotless… with no time to spare! :)

honestly though, when we’re very bz, then all the more the little “me-time” becomes so precious… gives us that extra oomph to carry on!
