The Privilege of Serving

be inspired to serve

As Singaporean, we are always concern about good service expected when we go shopping, dining, and even when we are in church!!!

BUT, how many of us know and truly comprehend the joy of serving?

His message was simple, but relevant::: SERVE.

Yesterday’s sermon by Pastor Patrick Chew is one of those that moved me to tears.  Ps Patrick seldom preach, but when he does, he usually preaches from his heart, with personal sharing from his life, so much so that one’s spirit will be stirred, rebuked, but not condemned.

I was especially touched by his honest sharing about his journey in learning to serve (from 16minutes onwards).

The Privilege of Serving

It will only be at the site for about a month. (I’m actually listening to it again now :P )

(PS: His wife and daughter are the mother-daughter pair I mentioned in my “I Want To Be Their Friend Forever” post.)

Key statements made:::

“Compassion is not received through prayers.  Compassion comes when you are willing to go, to where the people’s needs are. And when you go, than, you begin to receive compassion.”

“Until I can trust you with My compassion, I cannot trust you with My power.”

“A church that serve, is a church that will be relevant to the world.”

“90-95% of Christians they are not fishers of man, but they are keepers of aquariums.”

Jesus’ example from Matthew 14:14 ::: See, Compassion, Heal
