Backgroud:
Psalm 56 – When David was captured by the Philistines in Gath
Psalm 57 – When David fled from Saul into the cave.
My thought:
What are the similarities between all the verses quoted? ~ they are all words of faith David spoke during a very difficult time in his life.
Something I wasn’t able to understand when I begin writing this blog entry: How could David’s still have such faith and trust upon God during those times of his life?
But, somehow, as I write, I started to remember those times when David was younger, and was a shephard boy, how he fought the bear and lions bravely. I believe those were probably the training grounds when David was trained to believe God is his protector, deliverer, and helper. When David was under the chains captured by the Philistines, when he was in the cave escaping from Saul, perhaps, he remembered those days when he was fighting the bears and lions, and rememebered God’s faithfulness.
And at the end of these trainings, I believe the best reward David gained, was being named: The man after God’s heart.
My all-time favorite verse:
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials” – James 1:2
